אוכל ישראלי - ASHKENAZI DRIED FRUIT COMPOTE - Israeli food


 
I love this dessert and can not decide if this is a true love, or a nostalgic love to the dessert that accompanied Shabbat and Holidays meals at my parents home

קומפוט אשכנזי - לפתן פירות מיובשים

INGREDIENTS  AND  PREPARATIONS :
 
 Put everything in a pot and cook over low heat for 30 minutes after boiling :

     -     1.5 liters of water
     -     100g of raisins
     -     100g of dried apricots
     -     100g of dried prunes
     -     2 apples, cut into quarters and sliced
      -    3 tablespoons of honey
      -    5 Packets of sugar-free sweetener /
sugar
      -    2 inches grated ginger root
      -    1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

To thicken the dessert you need to add to another short cooking :     -    A mixture of   -    1 cup water
                                   -    1 full tablespoon of cornstarch
                                   -    1 tsp vanilla extract

Turn off the flame and add :

     -    An entire lemon juice

Variety of suggestions for presentation :

     -    Without any additional
     -     Put on each serving a spoon of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, or sour
           cream
