אוכל ישראלי - COUSCOUS - FAST PREPARATION WITHOUT COOKING AND ALL ABOUT THE WHOLE GRAIN COUSCOUS - Israeli food




You can not talk about Israeli food without mentioning "couscous" ...

קוסקוס בהכנה מהירה ללא בישול והכל אודות הקוסקוס המלא

 COUSCOUS -  PLAIN / WHOLE  GRAIN - FAST  PREPARATION  WITHOUT  COOKING

Pprovides 5 cups after cooking
 
 -   Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl :
       -    1 packet (350 grams = 2.5 cups) of medium-sized couscous
       -    1 heaping tsp turmeric
       -    2 flat tsp of fine salt
 
-   Add liquids and mix well :
       -    3 tablespoons of olive oil
       -    2.5 cups of boiling water
 
-   Cover and wait 5-7 minutes for absorbing the liquids
-   Crumble well with a fork, cover and wait a few minutes
-   Crumble over with a fork and serve

   WHY  WHOLE  GRAIN  COUSCOUS

whole couscous is made of semolina, created by coarse grinding of whole wheat seeds and therefore it is very healthy.

The couscous contains protein and fibers, that contribute to the feeling of fullness for long, encourage digestive process, slow the absorption of sugar in the blood and help balancing blood cholesterol.

The couscous also contains vitamins B and plenty of minerals - such as phosphorus, magnesium, iron and zinc.

TYPES  OF  COUSCOUS :

     -    Thin couscous - very delicate and airy
     -    Plain couscous (medium) - airy and suitable for all types of dishes
     -    Thick couscous -  airy with a presence and is especially suitable 

          for winter dishes and festive meals
